Our Journey Began in 2016

Geographical Indications Tagged World Premium Products Pvt Ltd (GI TAGGED ), is India’s first and perhaps the only company established under companies act in 2016 to exclusively accomplish the objectives of Government of India’s, “Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) act 1999”, the act came into force from October 2003.

Our mission is to create conducive environment for Geographical Indications Tagged products of India by producing, procuring and marketing authentic GI products.

The Company has evolved as a pioneer in the said sector and has established its network across India through company’s Region-specific clusters called as GI Panchayaths. We have implemented many mechanisms and Viable models for the revival and protection of GI Tagged products of India and to benefit farmers, Artisans and customers.

A Geographical Indication (GI) is a sign used on products that have a specific geographical origin and possess qualities or a reputation that are due to that origin. Since these products obtain the qualities from the geographical place of production, there is a clear connection between the product and its original place of production
Geographical Indication Tag is generally used for Agricultural Products, Handlooms & Textiles, Foodstuffs, Wine and Spirit Drinks, Handicrafts, and Industrial Products.

GI Products are the products that obtain the qualities from their original geographical place of production. The qualities, characteristics or reputation of the product should be essentially due to the place of origin only.

The Indian Parliament passed the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection Act) in December 1999, which aimed at providing a registration and also protection of GI of the goods in India. This act came into force with effect from 15 September 2003..

This Act is administered by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, who is also the Registrar of Geographical Indications.
