A Geographical Indication (GI) is a sign used on products that belong to a specific geographical region and hold qualities that are due to that particular region.
GI Tagged is a “one-stop-shop” of celebrated products having Geographical Indication Tag (GI tag). Our customers need not travel to a place to buy its renowned products, for we procure, produce and market GI tag products and adhere to the requirements as mentioned in the GI registry. Hence our motto “from that very land to your hand”.
Recent GI Tags in India
Darjeeling Tea became the First GI Tagged Product in India, in 2004-05. Furthermore, India is the second biggest fruit producer country in the world. There are an incredible variety of fruits grown in different geographical zones in India. GI Tag for fruits in india includes Vazhakulam Pineapple of Kerala, Nanjanagud Banana of Karnataka, Banaganapalle Mangoes of Andhra Pradesh, and Mahabaleshwar Strawberry of Maharashtra, etc.
Recently, the Department of Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) registered GI Tags for Palani Panchamirtham in Tamil Nadu, Tawlhlohpuan and Mizo Puanchei from Mizoram, and Tirur Betel Leaf from Kerala.

GI (Geographical Indication) is a sign used on a product which cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world with its exact uniqueness and Quality except the indicated geographical region.
Products that indicate a unique quality obtained from a specific region due to traditional practices, vegetation, topography are called as GI Products. These products cannot be replicated anywhere else in the world with the exact uniqueness and specialties.
Geographical Indications (GI) is a sign used on products to indicate its specific geographical region of Origin and its unique qualities imparted from that geographical region.
The Indian Parliament passed Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act in December 1999 for providing registration and protection of GI products in India. This act came into force with effect from 15 September 2003.
The Act is administered by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, who is also the Registrar of Geographical Indications.
As of January 2020, a total of 367 products from India have been conferred with the prestigious GI Tag Status. Check out the list of GI Tag Products in India Here.
