Gajapati Date Palm Jaggery

Date Palm Jaggery is a natural sweetener obtained from sweet juice (Neera) of the Date Palm trees which is grown in natural climate in Gajapati district of Orissa.

The average Neera yield from a Date Palm tree will be 3-4 liters per day. A tapper artisan family can tap 20 Date palm trees per day and can collect 60-70 liters of Neera which produces about 7 Kgs of Date Palm Jaggery.

Jaggery is obtained by boiling the sweet juice of  the Date Palm (Neera), normally the activity is carried out in the early morning.
