Dating back to the 12th Century AD, Khandua is an age-old traditional tie & dye ikat saree with rich design and elegance. The handloom fabric is closely associated with the rituals of famous Lord Jagannath Temple of Puri in Orissa.

The Significant feature of Khandua Ikat is that, it has sharp and smooth outlines of decorative and delicate motifs instead of Structural designs as commonly found in Ikat fabrics of other regions.

Khandua Silk Sarees

The Khandua Silk Saree (also known as “Khandua Pata Saree”) is a tie-dyed ikat silk saree. Significantly rich in design, this saree variety is famously known to have been offered to be draped around the Lord Jagannath of Puri. It is believed that, during 12th century AD, Jaydev, the famous poet desired to offer his magnomopous “Gitagovinda’ to Lord Jagannath.
