Originating in late 19th Century and initially worn by fisher folk, the Pochampally Sarees are characterized by their bold geometrical motifs and wide single coloured borders. The sequence of Tying and dyeing of threads in a design visualized on a graph sheet prior to the weaving of the fabric is unique to pochampally.
