After the Post disintegration of the great Vijayanagar empire in the 16th century, it is believed that one set of artists headed towards Tamilnadu & few towards Mysore Province. The Wodeyar king, Raja Wadiyar (1578 – 1617 A.D) of Mysore encouraged the Artisans & thus began a new Era of Paintings in the history of Mysore.
