Ivory wood, seasoned for close to 3 months is carved and Smoothened by using Chisels and Sand paper on a handmade lathe machine, while the wood still rotates on the lathe and remains hot, it is lacquered with the natural Organic colored sticks prepared from the vegetable dyes.

The Indian Parliament passed Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act in December 1999 for providing registration and protection of GI products in India. This act came into force with effect from 15 September 2003. The Act is administered by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trade Marks, who is also the Registrar of Geographical Indications.
