Pipli Applique Work Pure Cotton Bedsheet – Beige
The Pipli Applique Work of Pipli, a village in the district of Puri, Orissa, dates back to the l2th century when the temple of lord Jagannath was built at Puri (in 1135 A.D). The craft involves embroidering and stitching.
Pipli Work is a traditional patchwork where desired representations are created by attaching the pieces to cloth preferably in contrast color. The artisans skillfully stitch traditional motifs like animals, birds, flowers as well as modern motif patchworks on the fabric.
Pipili Applique Work, locally called Chandua, is related to the rituals and traditions of Lord Jagannath and his siblings Lord Balabhadra and Devi Subhadra.

Gentle hand wash in cold water with mild/liquid detergents recommended. Avoid soaking for too long.
Pipli Applique Work has been Conferred with the Geographical Indication (GI) Status by Government of India in 2008 with the GI Number 87.
