Description

GiTAGGED Natural Dyed Kotpad Off-White Cotton Saree With Blouse

Kotpad Handloom is a vegetable-dyed fabric woven in pit looms by the tribal communities located in the villages surrounded by the dense forest of Malkangiri and Umerkote of the Koraput District. The Eco-friendly Kotpad fabric is used for centuries as bridal wear of the tribal communities. The fabric being eco-friendly, adorned with beautiful traditional motifs is truly a heritage craft of Orissa and a remarkable cultural history of Indian Handlooms.

  • Cotton sarees with solid border and Pata Anchal, dupatta with typical Buties / motifs, handloom stoles, and dress materials are all dyed with organic dyes.
  • The natural dye is produced from the Aul tree which is probably not found in any part of the country.
  • The fabric is very comfortable to wear during summer and winter.
  • Since it is prepared out of natural resources which are non-toxic, the dye is not harmful to the skin.
  • The motifs used on the fabric are conch, boat, axes, crab, bow, temple, fish, and fan. The motifs reflect the centuries-old culture of the tribal communities of the region.
