Spices Board has already taken GI registration for Malabar Pepper, Alleppy Green Cardamom, Coorg Green Cardamom, Naga Mircha, Guntur Sannam Chilli, Byadagi Chilli, Sikkim Large Cardamom, Mizo Chilli, Assam Karbi Anglong Ginger, Waigaon turmeric, Sindhudurg Ratnagiri Kokum, Bhiwapur Chilli, and Uttarakhand Tejpat.
In its attempt to protect the quality and reputation of Indian Spices, the Spice Board is planning to apply for Geographical Indication (GI) registration for nearly twenty important spice varieties.
