Mysore Rose Wood Inlay History Rosewood carving has been in existence since 1800 A. D. The Mausoleum Door at Srirangapatna during the period of the Tipu sultan and the doors of Amba Vilas of Mysore Palace signify the heritage of the Craft. In 1914, the Craft form won a Gold medal at the British Empire exhibition. The meticulous process of carving on dark rich rosewood is a diverse craft with an exciting range of work that is the result of many years of dedicated practice of the Artisans in the Royal city of Mysore.
