Nachiarkoil Brass Lamps (Nachiarkoil Kuthuvilakku)
The craft of making the brass lamps at Nachiarkoil dates back to 1857 and is famously known as Temple Lamps of South India for its craftsmanship that adds a sense of purity to the ambiance. The uniqueness of the craft is attributed to the locally available Vandal sand on the river bed of Cauvery which is used for mounding and casting and is said to be the best in all of south India.

Nachiarkoil Brass Lamp Uniqueness
The Lamp consists of four parts, The Base (Keezh-bagam), Stem(Kandam), oil container (Thanguli) With v shaped spouts to hold the Wicks and apex (Prabai).
Nachiarkoil Kuthuvilakku has been Conferred with the Geographical Indication (GI) status by the Government of India in 2012 with GI Number 184th.
