Pipli Applique Work Tribal Family on a Trip The Pipli Applique Work of Pipli, a village in the district of Puri, Orissa, dates back to the l2th century when the temple of lord Jagannath was built at Puri (in 1135 A. D). The craft involves embroidering and stitching. Pipli Work is a traditional patchwork where desired representations are created by attaching the pieces to cloth preferably in contrast color. The artisans skillfully stitch traditional motifs like animals, birds, flowers as well as modern motif patchworks on the fabric.
