Firozabad Glass Craft
In 800 B.C., during the time of Yajur Veda, glass was one of the articles from which female ornaments were made. It is evident from the archaeological findings at Basti, Hastinapur (Uttar Pradesh) that glassware found in the region is about 2000 years old.
Raw Materials : Soda ash and Silica Sand are the main raw materials used for producing glass.
Colouring : The colouring of products is done by either using coloured glass or applying colours to the top/upper crest of the Glass.
Technique
The glassware handicrafts are Made by using unique mouth blown technique, a rare form of blowing air through a glass pipe to provide required shape, reflecting perfect craftsmanship of artisans based in Firozabad.
